Running Tours of Edinburgh

As an Edinburgh resident of more than 20 years, I can run you round all the quirky, hidden bits that you’d never find yourself!

About the tours

In addition to spoof walking tours, I also do several running tours of Edinburgh, which are a perfect way to see more of the city at a quicker pace. The running tour gives you the chance to explore some of the city’s secret corners that you would never see from the tour buses – while also working up a bit of a sweat!

I’ve been pounding the streets of Scotland’s capital for the best part of two decades and am pretty convinced that this is the most immersive and effective way to acquaint yourself quickly with the city, whether you’re a regular runner, someone looking for a bit of exercise while they’re in town, or even those looking to work off a bit of a hangover (trust me it works)!!

Having lived here for as long as I have, I know heaps about Edinburgh, whether it’s the history, the architecture, the cultural landscape or the city’s social life today and where’s good to go out. Also, unlike the spoof walking tours, while we’re out running I promise to try and tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

About the running

I can tailor a running tour for any group that wants to come. Equally, I also have 4 standard runs, across either the Old Town or New Town ranging from about 8 to about 12 kilometres, any of which we can do in their entirety; or I can compress these to a shorter run – depending on the needs of the group.

Finally, while I probably run 3 or 4 times a week, I’m not a club runner, so my running tours are certainly more about showing you interesting stuff than beating any personal bests – albeit at a decent pace, and assuming that’s what you want to get out of (literally) the exercise! So, get in touch, and put your best trainer forward!

Prices

To paraphrase Linda Evangelista, I don’t get out of bed for less than £40 a day! Therefore, my prices are:

1 person tour – £40 *
2 – 3 person tour (£20 per head) *
4 – 6 person tour (£15 per head)

Start times are by arrangement, allow 1.5 hours generally for a tour.

Running tours can be adapted, though standard routes are:

Around Arthurs Seat – 8 km
New Town – 8 km
Around Arthurs Seat and the Meadows – 10km
New Town and Calton Hill – 10km

* If you book first but are agreeable to others signing up later, I will refund you as per the above. If you fancy doing more than one tour over a few days, we can also discuss how I can give you an overall discount – this might work well for solo runners. As a general rule, 6 is the maximum number at which the tour works well, although we can certainly discuss this further if there are more of you.
